Haastattelussa SupaSTAAR (lataa biisi)

Redrum-187: What's up SupaSTAAR, How are you doing man?

SupaSTAAR: I’m good man. You know, I’m blessed and ready for a great new year trying to kick it off right.

Redrum-187: At the beginning tell us something about yourself. I guess too many of us in Finland haven't heard anything from you yet. Tell us where are you from mayne and what are you doing?

SupaSTAAR: Well, I’m originally from Columbus, GA but now I reside in Killeen. I’m a producer, songwriter, and composer. I love hip hop/rap music so that’s what I do all day, everyday.

Redrum-187: How and when you started rapping? Was it first just freestyling with your friends or were you born into studio? When did you notice first time that "Damn I can rap"?

SupaSTAAR: I started rapping at about nine, I actually used to watch and listen to my older brother freestyle while we were in and everything and then I picked up on it and ran with it. I wasn’t good at first, I was horrible, but eventually overtime I got better. The first time I noticed I could rap was actually from the feedback I got from my peers when I released this little Mix ”tape” I did. I actually had recorded on a cassette tape and passed it out at school. I was like 13, 14 years old.”

Redrum-187: What kind of projects have you been in this far? Tell us something about your releases so far. Who have you been working with?

SupaSTAAR: Well really everything I’ve been doing has been on my own. I haven’t really gotten to involved with other artists or been on any other projects just yet. Unless people on my label LoneSTAAR Entertainment. Most of the releases I’ve released have all been for promotional purposes, I never sell them, it’s just to get my name out. To tell the truth though, I never had someone feed me negativity. It’s always “ Yo supa yo whole damn album go Hard bro, every song.”

Redrum-187: How would you describe your own style? For my ears it's not so typical southern rap-sound. Is there any artists or producers who have influenced a lot to your music?

SupaSTAAR: My style varies I think, but I really describe it as a dirty-south/east coast/Midwest style. All artists influenced me. I feel like every major artist is somewhere where I want to be. So I look at what they did and how they did it and I try that but a little different. I do have my own way of trying make it in the door, but honestly man I try everything I can.

Redrum-187: How did you end up doing a song about Halle Berry? Are you a big fan of her?

SupaSTAAR: Hahaha, you know actually I am a huge fan of Halle Berry. That’s my girl, I wish I could meet her. The song just came naturally to me honestly through my creativity you know I was just chilling in the studio and the beat came on and the hook just popped in my head.

Redrum-187: What can we expect from SupaSTAAR in 2008? Tell something about your upcoming projects.

SupaSTAAR: You can expect to see me and hear me more often, hopefully man. I am going to stay on this music stuff until I get tired. I been doing it for 10 years and I ain’t tired yet. My latest project is coming out this month titled Vol.3: The Album. Probably the best album I have completed yet.

Redrum-187: Are there some local underground artists you want to recommend for us? What shouldn't we miss?

SupaSTAAR: I mean, not really just me and my label LoneSTAAR Entertainment. You can’t miss me, you can’t miss us.

Redrum-187: What kind of music are you listening at home? Which are the few latest releases you have checked trough?

SupaSTAAR: I listen to everything, but in all actuality I listen to hip hop/rap. I’m really feeling T.I, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Jay-z and a lot more others. I listen to alot of underground music as well.

Redrum-187: Year 2007 was dark for southern rap fans. Lots of terrible losses... Pimp C, O.G. Style and Big Moe are dead. Twisted Black got locked up for a long time. How do you feel about those things?

SupaSTAAR: It was a great loss, real talk. A lot of people still messed up about the death of pimp c and big moe and o.g style. I’m still messed up about it man we didn’t just lose any old ordinary person, we lost a genius, all of them. I just send my deepest condolences to the family members of Pimp C, Big Moe,and O.G Style. Twisted Black Stay up bro. We as a whole are going to hold it down for them and the south man.

Redrum-187: Southern rap has been huge a couple of years now. Why do you think it's like that? Is it because of the sounds, flows, unity or what do u think...?

SupaSTAAR: I mean every coast has there time. The West Coast had there time, The East Coast had there time, I mean the Midwest and now the South. Not saying you don’t hear artists from them areas no more, but it’s just our time you seeing more of us now and you got to agree we doing. Everybody doing it.

Redrum-187: Thanks for the interview SupaSTAAR! Anything else you would like to say to our readers and people in Finland?

SupaSTAAR: Man Thanks man, just watch out for ya boy you will hear from me again real talk. I’m trying be everywhere.

USA:n kansa on aivotonta.
